2017 DaVinci’s Faire & BarCamp Celebrated Innovation and Community
Innovation, Technology, Entrepreneurs, Makers, Mathematics, Engineers, Science, Education and Community: We are DaVinci’s Faire & BarCamp of Sarasota-Bradenton!
Manatee Technical College once again played host to communities of Bradenton, Sarasota, Venice, Lakewood Ranch, Englewood and the surrounding area.
The 2017 DaVinci’s Faire and BarCamp included such diverse topics as education, AI, civic engagement, funding your entrepreneurial projects, reinvigorating our economies via the maker movement, and so much more.
Greg Schroeder of Breakfree Technologies once again setup his gaming station to the delight of aficionados and newbies. He always has something cool from his collection of board games whether they be classic or a brand new with often a hook into a STEM/STEAM concept. electronics devices, computer based games, and engineered mechanical projects.
Rocket Burns was once again on hand and was a crowd favorite calling him “Rocket Boy” along with his family showcasing his awesome fractal art and other creations from the Suncoast Science Center and Faulhaber FAB LAB.
Microsoft University Town Center had a great setup with their virtual reality gear, their Oculus Rift VR Headsets. Both children and adults couldn’t wait to try out and enter the immersive environment rendered by the Oculus Rift. Microsoft brought back the “Kinect” to the delight of our attendees with dancing and other interactivity spilling out into the main hall. Microsoft continues to exceed all expectations at DaVinci’s Faire & BarCamp, entertaining and educating year after year.
Manasota Family Fun was on hand to enjoy and document the cool and fun things going on at DaVinci’s Faire & BarCamp of Sarasota-Bradenton.
Do you like ROBOTS? We do! There are always robots to delight kids and adults at DaVinci’s Faire!
Hatchpad was once again fanning the entrepreneurial flames among the youth and their families letting them know that funding and guidance for your ideas are available to turn ideas into a successful businesses. The main stage was loaded with interesting speakers and activities the the BarCamp board was never bored!
Manasota SCORE brought back the “Quick Pitch” along with Heather Holst-Knudsen from Hatchpad. They judged participants after a day-long session of business coaching.
